27 year old male searching???
So my name is Jay and I am arriving on STT on the 27th and I was wondering where a person my age would go to meet some people on the island. Are there any suggestions? Anything the locals can give me would be very helpful for I don't want to become too lonely too soon on the island.
Thank you
Jay
Shipwreck 😉
I will probably become quite a regular there for two reasons. Living in that area, and my friend I've known for years bartends there.

Hello Jayjay,
Also Greenhouse.
And, a while back playing beach volleyball at Bolongo Bay and having drinks at Iggies (which is on the beach there) was popular for new residents in the 20-30 age range - not sure if it still is.

Thanks to both of you. I will be living in the Bolongo bay area, so maybe I will be lucky with that. Speaking of the Greenhouse a couple of locals told me that bar was in a really bad area of downtown. Is that true? Anywasy thank you very much
Jay
Hello Jay,
Greenhouse is basically in the middle of town on the waterfront. No its not a bad area of town. During the day its a bustling shopping area. During the night it’s a lit and populated area where a couple other restaurants/bars are located.
If you walk a few blocks over and back then you are in seedy areas (like Savan). Walking around town at night isn't recommended in general, and particularly not recommended outside of the small area where the restaurants/bars are located.

I went to Greenhouse and Shipwreck while i was there, Jayjay. Im 22, and I met a ton of people. And I felt totally safe at Greenhouse. I just asked the bouncer to watch me walk to my car, and make sure I got in it. He was happy to...
Hey Jayjay, Shipwreck has great burgers too! There are nights when The Green House rocks... usually after 10pm. Islander is right, as long as you don't close the place and wander around drunk looking for your car, you should be OK. My friend did that on a visit, and took refuge in the firestation arounf 3am. The local police were kind enough to drive him up to my place in wintberg instead of throwing him in the pokey.
Good to now, especially since it looks like I might end up working at the Greehouse. Just want to make sure that I don't get caught in the bad parts of the nightlife. Easy to do in any City or town.

mmmm the burger at shipwreck really was amazing. i didnt believe them when they said it was the best burger in the Caribbean. But after eating fancy dinners out with my boss and his wife every night, all I wanted was a great burger...
Well at least I know that I can get a decent burger then. Isn't the Shipwreck also a pool hall sort of? I have heard alot of good things about that place. seems to be one of the better bars on the south end? Jay
Hi Jayjay, I am a 26 yrs old dude arriving on St. Thomas the same date as you are. I have similiar concerns as you do, I'd love to hang out, get to meet some newbies and locals around my age.
Weren't you looking for an apt on this forum not too long ago? How did you find one without being on the island? Any tips? It'll be great if I can find a place before I move down there.
Jerk,
Ha that sounds funny to me right now for some reason. If you want to get back with me I sent you a private message with my email attached to it. Get back with me ASAP and I can tell you what I know
JAY
Cool Jayjay... are you going to be a bartender at Green House? Say Hello to Ray and Kenny.
I sure hope so. I will find out more when I get down to the Island next Saturday. I will say hello for sure though.
Jay
Less than a week to go. Looks like I amy be meeting some of you or I may not, but either way I am excited to get out of COLD Colorado (65 degreees here right now) and get into the comfort of the islands again. Gonna be different living there instead of visiting there though
Jay
JayJay, what part of Colorado are you moving from?
I am moving from the Denver Colorado area. Not going to miss the cold weather at all that is for sure.
Jay
Hey everybody,
So what is there to do in St Thoams this Saturday night or any Saturday night for that matter? I will be getting into town Saturday afternoon and am looking for something fun to do that will just be heavenly.
Jay
JJ: I don't know about Saturday, but Sunday is the Texas Society Chili Cook Off at Bolongo. A great way to get your feet wet in the VI!!
I think I may end up going there since I am living like 50 feet away. Thank you for the tip though I really do apprciate it
