26/single - where would you live in the VI?
i may be interested in moving to the VI's.
I'm 26, single, and still enjoy a very active social life. what would it be like in the VI's for a guy like me?
would you move there if you were in my place?
Yes, you should move if you are good looking 😉
haha - you're not very much help.
you'd fit in with just about everyone. This place is crawling with singles. I think the saying goes "the odds are good but the goods are odd."
So yes, move here if you are good looking. 😉 we need you.
hmmm...odd goods. ok so there is a shortage of good looking people on the islands it sounds like.
which of the islands is the best and what area/town?
i live on st. thomas. it's not so much a shortage, it's just that i think i know most of the people here. for a single, i think st. john would be boring. i can't tell you much about the st. croix single life. a lot of people live on the east end (red hook), especially when they first move here. but then you have you admit that you are an east ender. just kidding...kind of. if you've never been here and you don't know anyone who lives here then you need to come and see what it's like for yourself.
i agree and definitely will. i just wasn't sure what to make of the place and wanted to get some perspectives. im a city person by nature but need to get out of here (ohio) badly. for some reason i just pictured the VI as being a place where there were not many people my age. im sure that is not entirely true (if at all).
East End is where a lot of young singles hang out and where a lot of the bars are.
I prefer to live North side or Solberg area because it's cool, quiet, near nice beaches and closer to my office. I moved from a big city and am enjoying the serenity of where my house is located.
I hang out in Frenchtown a lot and hit the East End occasionally — especially if I can con someone else into driving.
sounds like it could be a nice place. does it have a small town mentality?
It's got a mentality that's indescribable to say the least haha
You'll see...
Jen,

Brett where in OHIO are you from? My wife and me are from Columbus and we will be moving sometime in April. She is 25 and I am 35, so we will be new and not knowing anyone
William
DManning,
I'm waiting on pics from the owner of the house. It's 1250 sq feet and the pics I have just don't do it justice. I'll put them up on the original apartment thread as soon as I get them.
thanks,
Jen
haha Brett
The odds are not in your favor. Speaking as guy in my twenties who had a pretty decent social life in LA and NYC before moving out here the ratio is probably about 2.5:1, and ALOT of the females our age come down here with BF's (granted many break up shortly there after) but overall this is NOT a place to come if if your overly worried about your female relations.
Now don't get me wrong there are cute girls down here 😉 but they aren't at every bar and you'll never know the meaning of sausage party until you walk into offshore and see 10 guys dancing up on one iffy looking female.
Uggg do I sound bitter?
There may be less females.... but the ratio of good looking females to good looking males is something like 4:1. You have to be the right type of person to embrace island living 😉
STX is not "paradise" for a single man. The West Indian women don't tend to have much to do with Continental guys... so that's pretty much a non starter. The Continental women are usually with either a boyfriend or a husband.
However there is good news because you are under 30. The biggest contention of single continentals is in your age range. Meet them at work if you're going to be in the hospitality industry. For you single guys out there over 35 try to bring a woman with you... and whatever you do you had better be good to her because she will soon discover her worth on the "open market" here- so to speak.
Brett,
don't move here for women. I did better in Alaska then here on STX. This place sucks for hooking up!
MANgo,
"Hooking up" means casual sex. Maybe the STX women aren't as desperate for MANgo as those in Alaska! LOL
LOL....Ed but i do feel bad for my single guy friends on stx....they always seem to have a hard time finding anyone who over the 21-25ish age bracket to date. This is not a good island to be single on.
Thank you Betty for validating my opinion. Bottom line for guys over 30 and single your odds of winning powerball are better than finding the woman of your dreams here on STX. My advice to single guys over 30 considering moving here..."BYOW"... bring your own woman and keep her happy.
