2010 Tax refunds??
I am writing to find out how many more people beside myself have NOT received their 2010 tax refund. Since we are coming up on the 2011 tax season, I am wondering if those people who have not received their 2010 refund, will get paid before they start with the 2011 refunds?? Anybody aware of what is going on with this?
Well, I'm about a year overdue receiving my past tax refund. But the Senators spent our money, 6.9 million on themselves, so we're told there is no money left for refunds now. Yeah, that makes sense doesn't it? That's fair and par for the course here.
So is it an option to claim too many deductables and pay what is due at the end of the year?
havent received mine either.
alot of people here get 1099ed. wonder how many actually then pay their taxes?
Call IRB and ask. If they have a question about your return they won't contact you about it.
Our 2009 refund was late in coming. I finally called in Feb 2010 to learn our return was on hold pending clarification of a "deposit" they said I made to my "account". They needed to know the source of the funds to determine if it was taxable. Turns out it was a credit from the Federal Treasury. The IRB and Treasury's systems cannot communicate with each other. So IRB had no way of knowing where the deposit came from. I had to fax a copy of the letter from the Treasury to IRB. Our refund check arrived about ten days later. (tu)
The only saving grace is that they have to pay interest on the late refunds. Many years ago (no, things don't change!) I made out like a bandit on an over 2 year old refund. It was a rather nice bonus, for true.
It looks like you'll be waiting a while

"Finance Commissioner Angel Dawson Jr. told senators Friday that no one would be getting their tax refund checks before the end of the year.
He could not say when the next batch of delinquent refunds would be issued.
Internal Revenue Bureau Director Claudette Watson-Anderson said people who filed up to March 28 have been issued refund checks. She said about $30 million in 2010 refunds still need to be paid.
The government's cash position is very tight and the priority is to cover payroll first, Dawson said."

"While another $80 million has been appropriated to pay tax refunds in the current fiscal year, the Finance Department is not releasing funds at present due to the government's fiscal crisis and no refunds have been issued since fiscal 2012 began at the beginning of October, she said."
So is it an option to claim too many deductables and pay what is due at the end of the year?
Yes, but you could owe a penalty and interest for underpayment. Roughly speaking, if your payroll tax witholdings (or estimated tax payments) for the current year are at least 100% of your previous year's tax bill, then you're OK. There are several other considerations, but that's the one I usually follow.

We haven't recieved our refund yet.
When I went into the office to see if my check had gone missing, they said my return was being "reviewed for an error." Last year when they did this, they at least notified me. This year no communication whatsoever. So it's probably a good idea to check on your return's status.
I haven't received mine, and I filed well before March 28. Anyone have the number to call to check on things?
i think its 778-1040 or 773-1040. not sure which
now its time to do my 2011 taxes. wonder how long i will have to wait for that return???
