what exactly is the legal age for drinking? we are finally making the move in June and my 17 + daughter thinks/believes that it is 18 yrs.....what is the truth?
i have searched the site, but as you can imagine that searching for "drink" brings up lots of threads!!!

The legal drinking (and cigarette buying) age in the USVI is currently 18.

The only thing you have to be 21 for is the casino and they're not even strict with that.

Even though the legal drinking age is 18 I have yet to see anyone check ID's. As parents we are probably a little more open about drinking. We didn't want our children having their first drink out with a bunch of friends at some bar that they snuck into underage. Once they were over the age of 16 and asked if they could have a beer or a glass of wine with dinner we would allow them to have a drink with us. Of course moderation is the key, but we felt that if we took the mystery out of alcohol our children would be better educated once they were exposed to it without us present. Our oldest 5 are now over 20 and are great kids with promising futures.
