1 suitcase, 6 months... Must Brings?

Hey again! 🙂
As I have mentioned we are "moving" for 6 months and each bringing a suitcase. Considering we just did 6 months in SE Asia with a backpack this is a breeze but I was wondering what is a must bring I should not forget i.e. what should I purchase here that might be considerably more expensive there (toothpaste, lotion, sunscreen, razors, etc). I am one of those penny pinchers you hear about 🙂
Thanks and can't wait for this next adventure, nervous yes but that is only normal I am hoping! Looking forward to meeting all of you on the island of STX as well as hopefully exploring the rest of what the Caribbean Islands have to offer when the time presents itself! Thanks for the advice along the way also!!

when i first moved here i could not find afterbite and vasaline lip balm-both of which can be found here now. you can by most if not all of your toiletries at drugstore.com or walmart.com both offer free shipping depending on how much you spend.
i used to use ear candles, i have never found them on island

Those would not be forgotten IF I had stacks of them 🙂

It all depends on your personal preferences. I use fragrance-free deodorant which is EXPENSIVE at KMart or other places when you can find it. HOWEVER, I since found that the AVON rep regularly has it for way cheap, so I order quantities from him.

Some spices are crazy expensive here. I wanted meat tenderizer and a bottle at Pueblo was $7.++! Many spice blends are insanely priced.

Everybody complains about the price of milk, but that's not an item you can easily put in your suitcase.

If you're a vegetarian, packs of tofu start at $1.99 for the refrigerated pack. You may want to bring Morinu if it's substantially cheaper.

A friend just came back from the States, and she gave examples of price differences after her visit to CostCo. Quinoa was waaayyy cheaper, and so were Pop Tarts (of course, she checked her favorites!). Cereals can be very expensive here, but I gave them up because of the cost.

Whatever you like that you can get at Walgreen's will be cheaper than what you can get here. I was tempted to ditch my cruise so I could shop and fill up my suitcase with stuff at Walgreen's!

The cereal I like doesn't come in bulk here. I like the Post Cereal's Banana Nut Crunch. Or, at least I think it's Post! But then milk got so expensive, I just quit eating cereal that needs milk. Grits and oatmeal are far better values for me, especially since I don't cook them for very long. You have to buy the regular, not instant, to get the best value for both of them.

How much is postage? I think it's $3.99 at Cost U Less. It's more the price of milk now that made me stop buying it.

free if you buy 45 or more worth of stuff, this time i bought cereal, ketchup, saran wrap, cat food-purina one body wash.. i have bought laundry detergent, toilet paper paper towels peanut butter coffee bath towels-10 piece set for 35 mattress pad cover that actually stays on the bed. foil plastic baggies. i checked out the prices of the items i bought at cost u less and kmart- all the items i bought were cheaper at walmart.com
if you see something you like, it will tell you if the item qualifies for free shipping.

you should not get a good visual and they might not be the best things to use. i used them for years. you put the hallow candle in your ear, light it on fire and it draws the wax out of your ear. i used it before i knew what the real problem with my ears was. turns out it was not excess ear wax but a different problem.

I know somebody who takes milk from the cows that are tethered behind Home Depot off the road going up to Raphune Vistas. I think he gets a gallon everytime he goes.

Which now you've posted the information will probably result in a line of wannabe bucket-toting novice milkers lined up in the parking lot ... For those who might be tempted, be advised that cows don't like their udders crudely manhandled and can kick most ferociously! 😀

They sell them at the drug store in havensight. That said, there is no medical value for them which is why they're slowly disappearing.
