Meditation for the rest of us
Looking to learn some basic skills for meditation? We’ll combine some ancient Chassidic and Kabbalistic Jewish meditation techniques with some basic tips for fitting meditation into a modern lifestyle. Find a connection to your own spirituality. No experience necessary.

Friday, February 19: 6:30pm
Shabbat Services: Welcoming the Sabbath
Join in communal worship and song. Services include prayers in Hebrew & English, contemplation, and an opportunity to sing old tunes and learn new ones. All are welcome!
Followed by a potluck dinner – please bring a dish to share.

Saturday, February 20: 10am
Adult Learning: Environmentalism in Jewish Texts
How can ancient and medieval Jewish texts guide us toward modern sustainable living? In what ways does Jewish practice inspire a contemporary environmental ethic? We will delve into a variety of laws and stories that has kept the Jewish people rooted in the earth. All texts provided in English translation.

Purim is just around the corner! Sing silly songs, play some educational games, and get the full scoop on this backwards holiday. Find out what it felt like to be Esther the Queen, or Ahasuerus the King.

Sarah Chandler has been leading services, as well as teaching adults & children in St. Croix since 2005. She is the Director of Jewish Family Learning & Life at West End Synagogue, A Reconstructionist Congregation in Manhattan. She has her M.A. in Jewish Education and Hebrew Bible from Jewish Theological Seminary. She is also a senior editor of Jewschool.com and Director of Programming for Zeek: A Jewish Journal of Thought and Culture. Sarah has taught Jewish environmental education & spirituality for the Teva Learning Center and the JCC in Manhattan.
