because myself, my husband, and our two toddlers are soon to take up residence there. Ok, the kiddos are actually quite well behaved for the ages of 2 and 1, but ya know the capriciousness of the tiny. I wanted to write and thank everyone for your active involvement in this forum, as I have poured over these posts in an effort to gather as much information as possible. I have written a few times in regard to our PMV and general questions and have appreciated the responses. We have just recently accepted the job offer and looking to probably arrive sometime in September. It is quite exciting and I welcome the opportunity. Of course, as a woman with two little kids, the crime factor weighs heavily on my mind. I have had the opportunity to speak to a handful of mothers in STX- all of whom were happily settled and did not feel that they to be shut-ins to keep themselves and their kids safe. It is hard to reconcile those opinions with some of those that I see on this forum- which sometimes projects the air of lawlessness- so I wanted to just write a post to gather as much feedback as possible about the safety factors of living on STX with small children and any tailored advice you might offer.
