School Supply Drive?
Ok, I saw in the paper the other day that the Salvation Army on STT was collecting school supplies for the children...Are there any similar drives on STX and if so, would it be worth sending items from the states? I wasn't sure what kind of sales Kmart or the other places have on school supplies but I know here in Charlotte, just about every office supply store or major retailer is having everything twenty cents or less (most things are a penny!). I was just going to use flat rate priority mail boxes to get everything down and really wasn't going to send paper, just the other stuff...
Thoughts or names of where to donate? Thanks!
Amanda
There is an after-school program that I heard Roger Morgan speak of on the radio--some months ago---over in the Clifton Hill area, or campo rico, I think--sort of near the Animal Shelter. Anyway, it sounded like these folks were doing a specially good job helping these young kids, and as I recall they had a homework etc program going----did a meal I think, anyway it sounded successful and important enough that it stuck in my mind. I am not on island right now,. but perhaps someone who is could call his station and see if Roger or the staff remember or know how to contact this group--I think it was a grey building without a sign.....
