Project Homeless Connect
Project Homeless Connect will take place Wed, June 18 at the Ag Fairground on STX. I'm not involved with the project, other than making donations, but basically the program is designed to "connect" the approximately 200 homeless people on STX to various social services and health care available to them. The STX Chamber of Commerce is accepting donations at their offices at 3009 Orange Grove, Suite 12. For you newbies, that's on Northside (75) just west of Orange Grove Shopping Center, where Pueblo is located. It's in a strip center behind KFC and Banco Popular. It's on the back side, so if you get lost, just ask anyone in the neighborhood. They are requesting personal hygiene products, as well as clothes, particularly underwear, socks, etc. I'm sure most anything would be appreciated. Please drop off any donations by 5:00, Friday, June 13.
As I said, I'm not involved, so I can't really answer any questions. You can always call the Chamber at 773-1435. A while back on the post about Freecycle, there was discussion about giving away partially used shampoos and other personal care products. No idea how they feel about accepting used donations, but as long as it's not roll on deodorant, or something like that, they may be glad to have them.
We have many causes, but this is one we don't seem to have many organized venues for helping out.
