It's Leatherback sea turtle nesting season again! Thanks to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service SEA has scheduled turtle nesting watches in May for our members. Please remember to reserve your space early as these activities fill up fast!

Leatherback Sea Turtle Nesting Watches

Wednesday May 22nd
Thursday May 30th

Leatherback sea turtle nesting watches are provided by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge. Nesting watches begin at 7:45 p.m. and end at midnight or later so are not appropriate for children under 6 years of age. You must be a SEA member to attend watches with SEA. Reservations are required. Please call (340) 773-1989 for reservations and membership information.

Sandy Point Turtle Watch Program
The Turtle Watch Program takes student, youth, and community groups to the wildlife refuge during seasonal closure to observe nesting turtles and hatchling emergences. The program is closely supervised and coordinated with research teams so as not to disturb the turtles.

Beginning 01 April 2013 reservations for groups of 15-25 people can be made by calling the Sandy Point NWR Turtle Watch Program at 340-690-9452.
