Unfortunately, due to red tape, I am having to wait until 2015-2016 school year to begin my school. Thank you for your inquiry! I will post again once I have the go ahead.

I am interested in finding a group for my granddaughter who just moved to STX with the family. She is 11 years old.

We have a 12 year old that is currently homeschooling online. She is missing out on interaction with kids her own age. As your granddaughter is 11, they are close in age. Has she been successful in meeting kids on the island in her age group? I am very interested in learning where these kids can mingle when they cannot meet at school or extra curricular activities.

Bruce Institute of Higher Learning is an online school for students in grades K-12. We also have a homeschool division and an association here in St Croix!  A family does not have to enroll their child in our school in order to be apart of  the homeschool association. The homeschool organization here is called St Croix Home Educators' Association (SCHEA).  It will provide valuable information regarding homeschooling in the Virgin Islands such as:

1.) what parents must legally do in order to homeschool or have their child homeschooled,

2.) updates on what the Homeschool Legal Defense Association is doing to prevent to Virgin Islands Dept of Education from passing laws that violate the rights of parents to have freedom of choice pertaining to the education of their children,

3.)which local private schools are "homeschool friendly" meaning they offer online or campus classes and extracurricular classses / sports for area homeschool students,

4.) as well as members-only events, like field trips, classes, sports tryouts like soccer, cheerleading, dance, basketball, etc, clubs such as SADD and FCA to name a few, and events like graduations, proms, and banquets.

And much more!

I'm one of the teachers and I live in St Croix. I am offering a hybrid program that combines our online classes with traditional textbook studies as well, which has proven highly succesful for our students in the states.  Again, it is also possible to "attend" our school totally online, and we are accredited!
