USVI NORML Announces Citizens’ Initiative
This Press Release is to inform the citizens of the United States Virgin Islands of the USVI NORML chapter’s effort to organize and execute a successful petition to reform Territory legislation.
St. Thomas, USVI, 12/18/09– USVI NORML, a local chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, is excited to announce the undertaking of a territory-wide petition to place the choice for the legal reform and legalization of cannabis on the November 2010 ballot.
In order to collect the required amount of registered voter signatures the group will be hosting several voter registration drives so the voices of all Territorial citizens will be heard. Chapter President Linda Adler has stated that, “Although this will be a tremendous effort to empower the people of the Territory, it won’t take away from our continuing mission of education and independent economic development”.
For more information on upcoming events, petition locations, or membership/donation opportunities please contact the NORML offices at (340) 244-9179 or visit www.usvinorml.org. Please direct all correspondence and membership applications to:

Sounds great.
I'm moving to STT on the 27th of December. I posted on the USVI NORMAL my space page. I have experience with non profit work and I am very out going. This is something I have great passion for especially the way our (national) economy is. Obviously I will be new to the island and the first thing my wife and I are looking to do is REGISTER TO VOTE. Please either pm me or post on site I will be looking for events and a chance to meet you and network as much as I can since I need to learn the island and I need a job.
My vehicle wont be on island till the 13th and who knows how long is going to take to get registered but I hope to be mobile by the end of January.

The petitions are available for EVERYONE with an opinion one way or the other to sign. Call one of the board members or residents who have the petitions - I'll list some numbers - to locate one or to help circulate them. REGISTERED USVI VOTERS ONLY!!
The petition reads "WE THE UNDERSIGNED, RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT THE “LEGISLATION OF CANNABIS BE PUT TO A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES VIRGIN ISLANDS ON THE NOVEMBER 2010 BALLOT”
We believe this is the only way for ALL citizens who have an opinion on the matter to be heard.
