4th Annual St. Croix Johnny Cake Eating Championship & Raffle
To Benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Virgin Islands &
The St. Croix Foundation

On Sunday, January 27, 2013, Ziggy’s Island Market on the East End Rd. of St. Croix will be sponsoring and hosting the 4th Annual St. Croix Johnny Cake Eating Championship and Raffle. This is a charity event to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Virgin Islands and the St. Croix Foundation. 100% of all donations, raffle ticket sales, profits from food sales, and contest entry fees will be donated to the aforementioned charities. Also a portion of bar profits will be donated.
The event will kickoff at 2pm and will be highlighted by the Johnny Cake Eating Championship at 4pm. Everyone is invited to come participate or watch as St. Croix's finest eaters vie for the crown. Entry in the contest is only $20 and all participants will receive a T-Shirt. The winning eater will receive a trophy, the title of St. Croix's Johnny Cake Eating Champion, and a Johnny Cake every day of 2013 courtesy of Ziggy's Market. There will also be prizes for the top woman and child in the contest. The contest is limited to the first sixteen eaters, and those interested in entering the competition can register at Ziggy's Market any time prior to the event.
In addition to the Johnny Cake Eating contest, the crowd will be entertained by DJ Don Juan, who will be MCing the event, a martial arts demonstration by the Boys & Girls Club, horse back and donkey rides, and capped off by the music of Ziggy's Bigfoot Band.
Ziggy's Kitchen will be offering food from 2-4pm and John's Weenie Wagon will serve food from 4pm-9pm. Everyone is encouraged to arrive early and stay late so they can get a taste of the delicious offerings. There will also be drink specials and a selection of tap beers all afternoon in Ziggy's Libation Station Bar.
After the eating contest is over, the raffle will highlight the afternoon's activities. This year’s raffle features thousands of dollars in prizes donated by dozens of St. Croix's finest restaurants, stores, and other businesses. Raffle tickets are only $3 each or 2/$5 and are available now at Ziggy’s.
In these tough economic times, funding to these two vital community organizations cannot keep up with all of the financial requirements for the services that they provide. All donations are tax deductible and you will be provided with a 501-c charity letter from the beneficiaries of this event.
